WHERE DOES REFLEXOLOGY COME FROM?

Forms of reflexology have been practised for thousands of years.

Pictogram drawings indicate that reflexology was practised by the physicians in ancient Egypt, as long ago as 2,500BC. However, there is also anecdotal evidence of forms of therapeutic foot massage in India and China. In the 20th century, European and American physicians, such as, Dr Henry Head and Dr Charles Sherrington, began to develop the modern forms of reflexology. In the latter half of the century non-medical therapists, such as, Eunice Ingham and Inge Dougans, continued to establish the therapy, and Doreen Bayley brought reflexology to the UK in the 1960s.
